CMD Consulting / warranty
Everything we sell carries guarantees under Australian law. The manufacturer’s warranty sits alongside them, never instead of them.
01The law
These guarantees apply automatically and cannot be excluded.
They cover most business purchases too. Since July 2021 the threshold is $100,000 per purchase.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
A major failure means you choose the remedy. For a minor failure, we may repair, replace or refund.
We supplied the goods, so you can bring these claims straight to us.
02Whitmore
Whitmore products also carry Whitmore’s Standard Limited Product Warranty.
For lubricants, it warrants the product conforms to its specification at delivery.
For durable equipment, it runs for twelve months from the date of purchase.
Whitmore may update its terms from time to time. The current version is the Standard Limited Product Warranty on Whitmore’s website.
That warranty adds to your section 01 rights. It never replaces them.
03Claims
Contact us first. We handle the claim and deal with Whitmore for you.
Email us the product name, batch number, delivery date and what happened. Photographs help.
Whitmore’s warranty asks for written notice within 15 days of finding the fault. So tell us as soon as you find it.
That window is Whitmore’s term only. Your rights under section 01 are not subject to it.
Under Whitmore’s warranty the remedy is replacement or a refund of the purchase price. It does not cover labour.
04Exclusions
The main exclusions, in short. The warranty document is the full statement.
It does not cover misuse, storage or maintenance outside Whitmore’s instructions, unauthorised alteration, or substandard consumables.
These exclusions apply to Whitmore’s warranty only. They do not cut down your section 01 rights.
05Costs
Tell us about the fault before returning anything. We will confirm the return path.
Where the Australian Consumer Law applies, you do not bear the cost of having a valid claim met.
06Your rights
The formal statement the law asks a warranty document to carry.
The benefits given by the manufacturer’s warranty are in addition to your other rights and remedies under law.
